Human Resources + Consulting

Nikie Walker, Ed.D.

As an author, columnist, public speaker, and educator with over 25 years of extensive experience in human resource management, complemented by 15 years of adeptly managing optometric and small family businesses, I have embarked on establishing my consulting firm. This venture is dedicated to assisting professionals in the optometry and family business sectors in harnessing the potential and value of Human Resources within their organizations.

Should you require guidance in areas such as onboarding processes, handbook development, employee training and development, policy and procedure formulation, or cultivating a cohesive company culture, rest assured that I possess a keen understanding of the unique challenges faced by small businesses. As a business owner, I appreciate your commitment to creating a conducive and rewarding work environment for your employees.

My guiding principle is, “Happy employees lead to happy patients/customers!” Currently, I hold the esteemed position of Assistant Professor at Brescia University, and my civic involvement extends to serving as a Board of Trustee member for Girls Inc. in Owensboro, Kentucky, and the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation (KLEF), as well as being an active member of the Owensboro Lions Club.

I proudly hold a doctoral degree (Ed.D) in Organizational Leadership and Development from the University of Dayton, conferred in July 2022. My passion for community service aligns with my expertise in human resources, allowing me to design and deliver several impactful programs on interview skills, employee development, and empowerment of young women. These programs are disseminated within local schools, homeless shelters, Girls Inc., and various community organizations.

Additionally, I have been fortunate to participate in numerous vision medical missions spanning from Mexico to Argentina to Africa. I firmly believe that the gift of sight is among the most profound and life-altering contributions one can make, reshaping the destiny of individuals in profound ways.
